The Mujeres group was created in 2012 after grasping the importance of Latin dances in French Guiana. It brings together dancers with diverse influences (modern jazz, classical or contemporary) who share a passion for Latin dances, particularly salsa. Drawing on these diverse backgrounds, the group’s guiding principle is to establish a fusion between these genres.
The group also invests a great deal of time and energy in transmission and training, working with young audiences in particular to pass on its knowledge. The aim is to pass on different techniques of bodily expression through courses and workshops. We work on posture, body awareness and self-confidence, as well as techniques for tricks, isolation and coordination.
The name of our group Mujeres means Women in Spanish. As a result, we’re committed to promoting the value of women through their sensuality.
Interested in the idea that clothing is an extension of the individual, a way of appearing in the world and expressing one “s identity, Mujeres explores materials. Her creative processes are a way of opening up to the world and discovering more about herself and others.
Their artistic creations stimulate sensations and emotions.
